CHICAGO, IL (October 15, 2006) – Mitsubishi Lithographic Presses, Inc. (MLP U.S.A.) has chosen YUPO® FPR 200 synthetic paper to demonstrate the versatility of its new Diamond 3000LX press, launched today at Graph Expo 2006. Manufactured by Yupo Corporation America (Chesapeake, VA), YUPO FPR 200 synthetic paper was specified for this project due to its compatibility with UV printing, ease of handling, durability and aesthetic quality. Adopting a theme of “Opening New Worlds” through advanced technology, MLP U.S.A. is using the high-tech press, which enables fully automatic plate changeovers, to print 26” x 40” poster-sized images of the Mars Rover landing and Hubble Space Telescope with UV inks. Demonstrations will take place October 15-18 at McCormick Place, Chicago, IL, booth #2612.
For the Graph Expo 2006 launch of the Diamond 3000LX, MLP U.S.A. needed a synthetic paper grade that would be both easy to handle in a tradeshow environment and able to deliver brilliant graphic and color reproduction. “It was important for MLP U.S.A. to pick a reliable synthetic paper that would run well and produce high-quality print results in order to effectively showcase the advanced capabilities of the Diamond 3000LX,” explains Barclay Laux, Demonstrator Trainer at Mitsubishi Lithographic Presses U.S.A., Inc.
Specially engineered for UV hybrid, offset and flexo printing applications, YUPO FPR 200 can be printed using UV inks without a primer coating, which improves efficiency and reduces the expense of print runs. Applications printed on YUPO FPR 200 are also extremely durable, with no marking or streaking. By adopting this innovative synthetic paper, MLP U.S.A. is able to attain the high-end, lustrous look produced by UV inks with a more efficient printing process.
“YUPO FPR 200 achieves excellent ink adhesion on its smooth and uniform surface, producing the premium look needed for the Graph Expo demonstration,” remarks Laux. “This synthetic paper also enhances our operational performance with its unique resistance to stretching and general press wear during high-speed runs.”
Yupo Corporation America manufactures a broad range of synthetic papers for the technical paper and commercial printing industries. YUPO synthetic papers provide exceptional print quality, uniform coating surface and reliable convertibility. YUPO is also 100% waterproof and recyclable.
