What is the shelf-life of YUPO paper?
YUPO® product shelf-life is dependent on many factors including application, storage conditions and format (roll vs. sheet); it is therefore difficult to establish a firm shelf-life period. As is best practice, we recommend that stock be used in First-In-First-Out manner using the date of delivery as your guide. At a minimum, you may expect one year from date of delivery as long as product is stored in the original, unopened packaging and under warehouse conditions that do not exceed 120oF. Any product that has been opened and is being returned to storage must be properly resealed. For stock that has exceeded this time period, best practice is to confirm performance under specific application and/or contact our Technical Service Department at (888) 873-9876 for guidance.

How can we control static when printing on YUPO?
To avoid static, maintain at least 42% relative humidity. Also, use static elimination equipment such as ionizing air units or static elimination bars at the feeder and/or delivery. Contact SIMCO or other manufacturer for additional information on anti-static equipment.

What is the difference between YUPO Original and YUPO ACCEL®?
Improved drying time when printing on YUPO ACCEL® using inks formulated for synthetic paper.
- YUPO ACCEL® is whiter.
- YUPO ACCEL® is brighter.
- YUPO ACCEL® is glossier.
How can we minimize dust build-up?
- Dry dust on open unit.
- Minimize impression pressure.
- Print with yellow down first to minimize effects of dusting.
- Use coarse blankets versus super smooth.
How can we eliminate set-off?
To avoid set-off, use a good amount of spray powder to reduce the contact between the printed sheets and improve the airflow in the load which will allow the ink more time to dry.
- Racking lifts no higher than 3-6 inches (depending on ink coverage) will prevent the weight of the lift from causing set-off to the printed sheets.
- Prevent static from occurring. (See: “How can we control static when printing on YUPO?”)
- Move / Air the printed piles of YUPO with care.
Can I combine printed YUPO with another substrate?
Yes. However, if YUPO will be combined with another substrate, you should print the entire job (YUPO and other substrate) with inks formulated for YUPO.
Is die cutting possible on YUPO?
Die cutting can be performed on YUPO as long as the blades to be used are sharp and free from nicks. Also, cutting right angles and internal sharp corners on YUPO will cause tearing, so be sure to radius the die. (1/16 inch minimum)
